Catharina Sikow-Magny joined the European Commission in 1997 and is currently the Director responsible for Green Transition and Energy System Integration in the Directorate General for Energy. Before that, she was the Head of Unit in charge of Consumers, Local Initiatives, Just Transition. Before that she was the Head of Unit responsible for Networks and Regional Initiatives. She has as well worked on international transport, trans-European network policy and financing, internalisation of external costs, and strategic policy research.

Before joining the Commission, Catharina Sikow-Magny was a team leader and chief economist in the private sector in Finland. She has also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She holds a Master of Economics degree from the Aalto University, Finland.


Dr Marcus Newborough is Development Director of ITM Power, a manufacturer of PEM electrolysers. Previously he was Professor of Energy Systems at Cranfield and Heriot-Watt Universities. He has over 30 years experience in energy research, and has published over 100 scientific papers. In recent years he has been heavily involved in the development of power-to-gas systems, in the UK and French H2Mobility initiatives, and as Chair of the Technical Committees of Hydrogen Europe.



Eva Hennig, study of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University in Munich. With Thüga Aktiengesellschaft in Munich since 1989 in various positions, since 1.1.2018 head of department for EU Energy Policy. The Thüga Group constitutes the largest alliance of nearly 100 municipal utilities in Germany with activities in the sectors gas, electricity, district heating, water and various services. Eva Hennig is active in all topics related to gas with a special interest in sector coupling and the production and distribution of renewable and decarbonized gases. Since 2012 chair of the Eurogas Distribution Committee.


Jonas Helseth is the Director of Bellona Europa, the EU policy office of the Bellona Foundation. Helseth joined Bellona in 2010, coming from a position as Advisor to the Mission of Norway to the EU on energy and transport policies. He is a vice chair of the EU Technology Platform for CCS (Zero Emissions Platform, ZEP). Helseth initiated and leads ZEP’s work on CCS in Energy-Intensive Industries (steel, cement, chemicals and refineries), a topic rapidly growing in political importance in Europe and globally. In addition to industry decarbonisation, Bellona Europa does extensive work on low-carbon mobility, notably through electrification.
