Andreas Guth appointed as Eurogas Secretary General: the future of the gas sector are renewable and low-carbon molecules

Brussels, Belgium, 3 September 2024 – Eurogas, the association representing the gaseous fuels sector, officially announces the election of Andreas Guth as its new Secretary General. He succeeds the outgoing Secretary General, Dr. James Watson.

Andreas Guth will be serving Eurogas as its new Secretary General, following his appointment by the General Assembly on 29 August 2024. He has been leading the policy team of the association over the last five years. Before joining Eurogas, Andreas worked for a range of sectors, covering energy, transport, biofuels, agriculture and trade.

Upon his election, Andreas Guth commented: "I am honoured to have been appointed Secretary General of Eurogas. The gas sector plays a pivotal role in the energy transition, as it undergoes its own transformation towards a more renewable and low-carbon future. I am excited to work with our members to ensure that Eurogas plays its part in driving this process forward."

Current Eurogas President Cristian Signoretto, in congratulating Mr. Guth, said: "As President of Eurogas, I address my warmest wishes to Andreas for his appointment as Secretary General. His vast expertise will drive forward Eurogas' mission in such a strategic moment for the gas sector. James' outstanding leadership has been pivotal to Eurogas' success, and I am grateful for his dedication. With Andreas now taking the helm, I am confident he will continue to build on this strong foundation."

Andreas Guth’s leadership will continue to strengthen the sector’s representation in its way towards decarbonisation.
